Design Trends: Brass Finishes 1/31/2018
Brass is back & we are loving it!
After decades of chrome and nickel everything, warm metals are ready for their time to shine. Copper, brass and gold are making their way into homes everywhere, in a big way. For me, brass has always been a finish that unconciously caught my eye. Whether I was strolling around one of our lighting showrooms or shopping online for clothes, I have always been partial to matte over shiny and warm tones over cool (sorry brushed nickel - I still love you!) So needless to say when I read about the resurgence of brass decor, I was all too excited to start adding pieces to my home decor.
Brass is gorgeous. It's warm, it's lively, and it's coming to every home near you. It's a finish that represents sophistication and luxury and is found throughout the Victorian and Mid-Century Modern eras. But as always, too much of a good thing can quickly take your look from stylish to dated or timeless to overly trendy. It's great for mixing in with chrome and brushed nickel finishes and adding light to darker hues but brass commands your attention, so reserve it for occasional furniture pieces and accessories.
Shiny brass is bright and bold while matte brass is subtle and sophisticated. Both are warm, inviting, and can really change up the style of your space. It's all about personal taste. Check out our picks for gorgeous brass fixtures and accessories.
